Can someone help ? What are the chances of getting a 189 or 190 visa invitation with Primary Applicant registered nurse with 75 points (80 with state points for 190 and 90 for 491)and secondary applicant Engineering Technologist with competent English ? Both have valid skill assessment. Any chance to get an invitation this FY ? or at least in 2025 ? @Gregormendel

Hi. I too am Civil Engineer with 90 points. I got 190 NSW Invite yesterday but I am thinking of not taking it as it seems to take 1.5+ years for grant. Instead I am thinking about waiting for the next 189 round as 85 points was the cut-off in the November 2024 round. Do you think this is the right decision?

189 Granted for me and partner. Eoi Date: 12 April 2023 Invite: 07 Nov 2024 Date of Lodgment: 15 Nov 2024. S56: 11 March 2025 for AFP Submitted AFP on 12 March 2025. Date of Grant 09 April 2025. Software Engineer 95 points. Partner Skilled Ext Auditor. Defacto partner & Claimed points for exp deducted by ACS (but have got CS degree and highly relevant work exp and responsibilities matching the skill req). Lodged EOI, Application by myself and took consultation couple of times because of complication with defacto.

I’m hoping you might be able to help with some advice. I lodged my EOI for the 190 visa (Early Childhood Teacher) from Victoria on the 14th of February and updated it on the 17th of March with some new info. I also updated my ROI for Victoria around the same time. I was hoping to get an invite in the last two rounds (18th March and 8th April), but haven’t received anything yet. I’ve got 85 points (including state points) and have Superior English. I’m also currently working in my occupation as an Early Childhood Teacher, so I’m a bit confused. I’ve seen others with lower points and Proficient English getting invited, and some not even working in their nominated occupation at all, which has me wondering why mine hasn’t come through yet. I know Victoria’s quota seems to be nearly exhausted, but I’m still a bit anxious, especially since the SkillSelect allocations haven’t been updated since 28th February. Also, I’m curious if there’s any chance of a surprise round from Victoria, or if the 189 round might have any surprises left this year. Do you think we can expect any further rounds, or maybe some updates soon?

Your profile seems decent. Check your EOI+ROI again. Atleast next FY you have a good chance. Try to add 5 to 10K to salary if possible.
It's likely VIC is out of allocation, and it is also likely there wont be anymore 189 this FY. So prepare for next FY. You are in a decent spot. We also have to wait and watch if any major changes for next FY.
