Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program Update
Application Gateway Now Available The Migration Tasmania Application Gateway is now open to new Registrations of Interest. New settings and processing arrangements apply. The Australian Government has not yet finalised state and territory nomination allocations and nomination cannot be confirmed until this occurs.

Remote Work for the Tasmanian Established Resident Pathway
For this pathway, Remote work refers to employment arrangements in which individuals residing in Tasmania perform work duties from within the state for a company or organisation that is located outside Tasmania, whether elsewhere in Australia or overseas. This includes roles where the worker delivers services, expertise, or digital outputs - such as IT support, software development, design, or consulting - to the external company, not to Tasmanian clients or consumers.
For example, a software engineer living in Hobart who provides backend development services to Google in California is engaged in remote work under this definition.
Individuals working for companies located outside Tasmania who deliver services to Tasmanian clients or markets are not considered remote workers under this definition. They will be classified as employees of a well-established Tasmanian business if those services are delivered at a Tasmanian worksite or worksites.

FY2025-26 Updates to NSW Skills List
Your occupation needs to be on the NSW Skills list to be eligible for 190 and 491 (Pathway 2 and 3). All occupations are eligible for 491 Pathway 1 (as long as on the DHA list). NSW has not officially opened for FY yet, so this may or may not be the final list.
Unit group refers to the first 4 letters of your Occupation Code, and NSW lists are given on the basis of Unit Group. All occupations under the given Unit Groups are eligible.

FY2025-26 TAS State Nomination Program
The Australian Government has not yet finalised state and territory nomination allocations. However, in anticipation of receiving an allocation, the Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program will open on 6 October 2025.
New settings and processing arrangements will apply.
The Migration Tasmania Application Gateway is undergoing maintenance and updates. We expect that it will be open to new Registrations of Interest by close of business 10 October 2025.
Program Changes and New Features
Following analysis of program outcomes and stakeholder feedback, updates have been made to improve the application process, clarify requirements and priorities, and manage program risks.
Key changes include: - An easier to navigate website - Updated and clearer minimum eligibility criteria - Updated priority attributes - A revised ROI ranking system - Changes to income thresholds based on updates to Australian median and average earnings and the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold - Simplified and clearer detailed policy guidance in the Additional Information, Exclusions and Definitions section of the Migration Tasmania website - The service fee to apply for nomination has increased to $370 ($407 including GST). There remains no charge to submit a Registration of Interest.

Candidates who have submitted an ROI in the last six months may wish to withdraw it and submit a new one, as the changes to priority attribute ranking criteria may significantly improve chances of selection.

Victoriaโs 2025โ26 Skilled Migration Program now open
Victoriaโs skilled migration program is now open to applicants in Victoria and overseas.
Program allocation The Australian Governmentโs Department of Home Affairs has provided Victoria with a small interim allocation for the 2025โ26 program year: - 200 places for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) - 180 places for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) The full allocation for the 2025โ26 program is expected to be confirmed by the Department of Home Affairs in the coming weeks. Updates will be shared on the Skilled Migration Program page and through the Live in Melbourne website.
Existing ROIs If you have an active Registration of Interest (ROI), it will remain valid for consideration in the 2025-2026 program. You only need to submit a new ROI if your information has changed.
New applicants can apply under two visa pathways: - Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) - Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) To be considered, you must submit a SkillSelect Expression of Interest and a Registration of Interest.
Note: Only 1 ROI is allowed per applicant, and the ROI can only select 1 occupation and 1 subclass (regardless of how many EOIs you have submitted).

๐NT Financial Capacity Requirement for Offshore Confirmation email: "As per our website, applicants are required to have sufficient financial capacity to settle in the NT in accordance with the guide provided. While evidence of financial capacity is not required, applicants must declare in the application for nomination that they hold financial capacity in those amounts, and it is important that this declaration is made honestly. The NT Government is not responsible for providing financial support to nominated visa holders, and as such, it is very important that applicants are able to support themselves on arrival."
