Trends and Patterns in S56 Requests
The day saw multiple S56 requests for remedicals, particularly for 491 NSW applications lodged in February 2024. These requests were issued on 16 October 2025, with medical clearances obtained between 23-27 October 2025, followed by swift visa grants on 27 October 2025. This pattern suggests efficient processing once remedicals are cleared.
For 190 applications, S56 requests varied in nature, including medicals, PCC, and polio vaccination requirements. The QLD 190 Mechanical Engineer case showed a notably long processing time of over 2 years, with an S56 issued in August 2025 for multiple documents.
Several grants were issued without any S56 requests, particularly for TAS 190 onshore applications and the 189 ECT offshore case, indicating direct grants for these applicants.
News and Updates
Multiple 191 visa grants were observed on 27 October 2025, indicating processing activity for this permanent residence pathway for regional visa holders.

I also received 491 grant 2 days ago, but it got override by 189 today! So grateful!!
congrats !
Good to see that they started August lodgements already :)
Know someone from early Aug who got direct grant and a 7th Aug got s56 for medicals. Looks like they are speeding up. Finally!
Noice !
That is nice to see you observe they are speeding up. But, the the grants section on this website, I see only 2 to 3 grants (less than 5 in most cases) on daily basis, which is very slow. Kindly comment for the understanding of all of us who are waiting so badly...
because only a small portion of the visa grants have time to post here or on social media. If you want to see the actual numbers, you can look @ the FOI
yeh, Sep FOI should come soon here
@biotechy what is your opinion on 491 visa pending grant, DOL 20 June 2023, S56 remedicals completed 8 September 2025? When do you thing grant can be expected?
I lodged mine November 2024. Omg!!! Lets goooo!
looking here, 190 backlog till oct 24 looks low(ish), Nov/Dec is a bit high
Yeah Nov 24, most likely late Dec or late Jan
for December 11, 2024, can I expect grant by late December or early January?
do onshore applicants get their grants faster than offshore? I observed that most of the latest grants were from onshore
Purely speculative, but I see they go in batches. All simultaneously but sizes do vary. Oct-Dec saw high number of applicants so Jan - Mar for these is a safe bet.
Hi, My PCC issue date is 18/11/2024 Visa application date is 08/12/2024
So my PCC will be expiring on 17/11/2024 and we are not expecting the grant by then. So, when you all feel, will be the right time to proactively applying for a new PCC
@wackypenguin8460 i am sailing in the same boat (lodged 22 Dec 2024, PCC expiring on 22/11/2025) , seems that we have to update it because can't see Decemeber 2024 lodgments getting grants before Jan. Or may be they consider PCC for longer periods jus like they did to medicals (18 months)
@sharjeel.ds I feel to be on the safer side, we should apply for the new PCC around the xmas break, so that we may uplaod the new one in Jan and keep our file grant ready. What do you think????
I received an S56 request for my partnerโs Functional English on 13th October. Partner's police clearance certificate (PCC) expired two days ago. Will the Department of Home Affairs issue another S56 request for a new PCC when they reopen my file after the 28-day period for the first S56?
hi guys, FYI: for users already part of this thread, you dont need to @ username tag them, because they will be notified anyways. For users who are not part of this thread, if you need to tag them, then you need the @ username
ssm, attach new PCC asap and you most likelt wont get another s56
biotechy what is your opinion on 491 visa pending grant, DOL 20 June 2023,PCC expiring 22/11/2025, S56 remedicals completed 8 September 2025? When do you thing grant can be expected? Should i be worried about the PCC?
@wacky seems to b the right strategy .Bdw has dis group ever witnessed a case where PCC has been considered for a longer period . Just asking
