I continued my degree while watching most of my peers who started the degree with me in 2019 become citizens by then. I felt like I was so behind in life and, honestly, I became really sad about it. I tried PTE 3 times because it was always a hit and miss. I was always just a few marks away. I didn’t have the time or courage to do NAATI because I was already so burnt out from work. I didn’t have the full points for my age either. Then came all the recent immigration changes, and I was SO stressed. I was applying for pretty much every job I saw, hoping someone would sponsor me, but nothing worked out. Eventually, I decided to do my application myself, with the help of my sister, because every migration agent I spoke to was asking for an absurd amount of money. I did end up paying $500 to an agent just to review my EOI because I was so stressed and uncertain about my skills assessment. As a graduate nurse, I did 6 months in a medical ward and 6 months in a mental health ward. I had done my skills assessment in Mental Health, but after leaving mental health, I completed my 1 year of experience and moved back to a medical ward. This was something I was SO worried about. I kept thinking, “Have I just messed this whole thing up?” I also saw so many nurses who hadn’t claimed their 1 year in their skills assessment, so I had some hope. But there were also people in this group who told me I had wasted my invitation because I hadn’t assessed my 1 year, and honestly, that made me panic even more. At that point, I just prayed and prayed and handed it over to God. I genuinely had no idea what was going to happen, but I just trusted that whatever was meant for me would happen. And so it did, all the hard work paid off☺️
