MY HISTORY (If you are interested to know, in case it encourages you)

Came to Australia (Sydney) in 2017 (at age 29) to study ministry studies (Christianity). 2017-2019

2020-2022 - Master's of counselling

2023-2023 - Casual counsellor in a hospital

2023-current - Full-time counsellor and got a positive skills assessment for 1 year only in July 2024. Then NSW removes counsellors from their list.

January 2025 (on 485 expiring February 2026) I started looking and interviewing for jobs in Victoria but no luck.

June 2025, I joined a company that has an office in ACT.

July 2025, I relocate to the ACT (faith). The rule with the ACT is that you work and live here for 3 months before submitting EOI.

My partner is offshore so, he puts through an EOI for ACT in September, he gets invited but nomination is rejected because he added me and claimed points from me but am onshore (you both have to be offshore). So we waited for my invite as the rule doesn't apply for onshore applicants.

@gregormendel Hi! Thanks for all the great updates. Quick question on the VIC 491 (Priority 1) timeline: Have you heard any chatter about why the March-May 2025 lodgements are taking 11+ months, while the newer ones are getting grants in 1-3 months?

Trying to figure out if our May 2025 application is just stuck behind a huge volume wall, or if the newer 'decision-ready' apps are skipping the line. Given this backlog, are you forecasting that the May cohort will clear before the end of this financial year, or should we be bracing for a push into July? Thanks for your help!

Got my 190 Grant just now. DOL: 22-Nov-2024 S56 for PCC: 24-Feb-2026 PCC Documents submitted: 05-Mar-2026 Grant:01-Apr-2026 Nominated state: SA Occupation: ICT PM Offshore Was expecting another S56 as my son turned two in Jan this year. But to my surprise, it was a direct grant after PCC.

@gregormendel When I can expect grant for 190 Lodged on 27 Jan 2026 Occupation - Enrolled Nurse Single Applicant. As People with partner get their grants within a Month but mine is Still received 2 months + Now.
