Trends and Patterns in S56 Requests
The day saw a cluster of S56 requests for subclass 491 applications lodged between March and April 2024. Medical requests dominated the S56 activity, with all five reported cases requiring medical examinations. Additional documentation requests included AFP checks, bank statements, tax documents, and police clearance certificates. The pattern suggests DHA is actively processing 491 applications from the March-April 2024 cohort, with medical clearances being a key checkpoint before finalisation.
Visa Processing Observations
Subclass 189: Two direct grants were reported for Civil Engineering occupations (Civil Engineer and Civil Engineering Draftsperson), both lodged in December 2024 and granted in November 2025. Processing time was approximately 10-11 months. Both applicants were onshore with 75-90 points.
Subclass 190 NSW: Two grants were reported for offshore applicants in Civil Engineer and QA Manager occupations. Processing times ranged from 15-16 months (May-July 2024 lodgements to November 2025 grants). Both cases received S56 requests for medicals in late October 2025, shortly before grant.
Activity levels were notably quiet for the day, with community members commenting on the low volume of grants. One observation noted that DHA may need to accelerate processing in the January-April 2026 window to meet planning levels.

How many days from S56 to grant? It depends on a multitude of factors, but generally its takes from 1 to 12 weeks for most (not all) applicants to get grant after s56 request is fulfilled. The best way to answer this would be to look at the latest s56 to grant timelines for your subclass. We have provided the data here.
Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program Update - November 2025 Additional interim nomination allocation While the Australian Government has not yet confirmed full program year nomination quotas for 2025-26, it has provided a further interim allocation of skilled visa nomination places to states and territories. For Tasmania, this allocation provides a further 450 places: - 300 for subclass 190 - 150 for subclass 491.
The 2025-26 Tasmanian Skilled Migration Program opened to new Registrations of Interest (ROIs) on 14 October 2025, with only candidates issued a Gold Pass invited to apply for nomination.
With this additional allocation, we will commence weekly invitation rounds with invitations expected to be issued across Gold, Green and Orange Pass categories.
Information will be posted on the Migration Tasmania website every week detailing: - the number of ROIs invited to apply for nomination - the lowest scores invited - nomination places available - number of ROIs on hand

I applied for a 491 visa (offshore-India-software engineer) on Feb 27th, 2024, and on Nov 3rd, 2025, I received an S56 request for a new PCC (from India) and evidence of relationship with spouse. What documents can I submit for evidence of relationship with spouse? The household bills are not in our name since we stay with my parents.
