Lately, it feels like there are more people stuck waiting after s56 requests than those actually getting grants or new invites. Wouldnโt be surprised if some recently invited applicants get their grants before many of us whoโve been waiting since our s56 stage. ๐ 2 years and 3 months already.

Hi, I need some help about a question in my 491 visa application.
The visa form asked: โHas the applicant been employed overseas in their nominated occupation or a closely related occupation at a skilled level, immediately before invitation to lodge this application?โ
I selected โNoโ because I thought โoverseasโ means working in another country. But I was actually working in Pakistan (my home country) at that time in my nominated occupation Human Resource Manager (132311).
I have already added all my job details and experience letters in the application.
Now Iโm confused, does โoverseasโ mean outside Australia, which includes Pakistan?
If yes, then maybe I should have selected โYes.โ
My questions are: 1.Did I make a mistake by selecting โNoโ? 2.Should I update or upload a clarification, or just wait for the case officer? 3.Can this cause any problem with my visa?

Trends and Patterns in S56 Requests
The day saw significant S56 activity for subclass 491 visas, particularly for offshore applicants who lodged in late February to early March 2024. For s56 requests, medical examinations being the most common requirement. Several requests also included Police Clearance Certificates (PCC), with Pakistan-based applicants receiving additional requests for Polio certificates and supporting documentation.
For subclass 190 visas, S56 requests were issued earlier in the processing timeline (July and October 2025), primarily for medicals, AFP checks, and country-specific PCCs. The pattern suggests that 190 visas lodged in mid-2023 are now reaching grant stage after addressing S56 requirements.
One applicant noted receiving a direct grant despite an expired Polio certificate, though this appears to be an exception rather than the norm.

Hi everyone, I need some expert opinions regarding my EOI and visa application consistency. In my EOI for subclass 491, I selected โYesโ to โDoes the clientโs partner have a nominated occupation?โ and chose Telecommunications Engineer โ 263311 as my partnerโs nominated occupation. I selected โNoโ for โDoes the partner have a suitable skills assessment?โ My wife actually has a BE in Electronics Engineering (specialization in Telecommunications), but she has never worked in that field. She is currently working as a teacher, which I mentioned truthfully in the visa application. I did not claim any partner skill or work experience points. Will this inconsistency between EOI (Telecom Engineer as nominated occupation) and the visa application (current teaching experience) cause any issue or concern with Home Affairs?
