Trends and Patterns in S56 Requests
Priority occupations (Teaching and Health) continue to demonstrate expedited processing. The Secondary School Teacher received a grant in approximately 2 months, while the Registered Nurse NEC and Early Childhood Teacher received grants in approximately 5 months. These processing times are significantly faster than non-priority occupations.
For non-priority occupations, visa processing times varied considerably. The Engineering Technologist (VIC 190) took approximately 15 months, while the Materials Engineer (NT 491) took approximately 16 months. The Computer Network and System Engineer (SA 491) received a direct grant in approximately 4 months, and the Chef (WA 491) took approximately 12 months.
S56 requests remain common across all visa subclasses. Medical requests and remedicals continue to be the most frequent S56 type, followed by requests for Form 80, police clearance certificates, and additional employment documentation. Multiple S56 requests (as seen with the Carpenter case receiving 3 separate requests) can extend processing times significantly. Health Undertaking Form 815 requests appear to be issued when medical conditions require ongoing monitoring or treatment commitments.
Direct grants without S56 requests were reported for two 491 cases (SA and WA), suggesting that complete and accurate documentation at lodgement can facilitate faster processing.
๐ต This data is crowdsourced and represents a subset of total visa activity. Only the Department of Home Affairs has complete grant data.

Points: 90 (including state nomination)
Thought Iโd share my journeyโit had a few ups and downs but finally got there!
I actually received two invitations last year. The first one, I had mistakenly entered incorrect information in my EOI. I realised it after getting invited, so I had to let it expire.
A few months later, I received another invitation with the correct details, and thatโs the one I proceeded with.
I was working in my field as an architect throughout, and I handled the entire process myselfโfrom submitting the EOI to lodging the visa application (no agent).
Just when things were going smoothly, I ran into a technical issueโmy ImmiAccount link stopped working just 5 days before the deadline. I contacted the IT team, and luckily they fixed it within 2 days, so I was able to submit everything on time.
