We need to take some action on this. This is not fair. They keep changing the priorities and requirements.
If they really want to implement this change, the date of effect should be from the day the change is announced, not applied retrospectively to previous applications.
We paid the full fees and were treated equally compared to onshore students, so it is unfair to change the rules after we have already applied and paid the required fees. Instead of taking measures on backpackers, new Zealanders, they are targeting skilled migrants.. if they really want to reduce net overseas migration. then they should f**** put u a cap on visa applications. will filling a petition work?
no one knows but surely they have to stop the freeze eventually if people have paid and lodged valid applications

Do you have anything to support this guess or is it wishful thinking? Since offshore applicants are priority 5 now as per MD119, and they have another 189 invite round coming up end of this month, we might as well assume they will probably get to our application by April-May 2027, which is quite disheartening.

I am making alternative plans in the background so heart breaking have all the licenses to work in Australia but no visa. I'm making plans until 2029 or 2030 as this government figures itself out. Very sad skilled high demand migrants are being used and mislead.

Offshore applicants with critical skills aren't the issue. If a qualified doctor or essential worker can’t get in to practice because serial visa-hoppers are clogging up administrative channels, the system is fundamentally broken. If you want quality migrates maybe treat your quality migrates you need with some respect. Still don't understand how healthcare, education and tradies offshore are now last in-line when they have been following all the rules, they took our money and now changing the promises made of priority. Leaving everything you know is not easy and these wait times are in humane. Especially for careers that take years to develop. I know in Canada we are so thankful when a doctor comes to work here from abroad because of the need and the red carpet is pulled to make sure they're treated well and want to stay. All this is making me lose a lot of trust in Australia.
