@amru (15H ago| Updated 15H ago)I lodged an EOI under ANZSCO 234111 Agricultural Consultant and selected 189, 190 and 491 (State/Territory nominated). My base score is 70.
A consultant told me that 491 is not really possible unless a state first nominates me, because only then the additional 15 points are granted. However, while filing the EOI, SkillSelect itself showed my 491 points as 85 automatically.
So I am confused about how the system actually works. Before nomination, is my EOI already considered in the pool at 85 points for 491 selection? Or does the EOI remain at 70 until a state decides to nominate, after which the 15 points and invitation come together? The consultant says-applicaiton would be lying there in the pool till state or family nominates- else there is no way for getting invitation at all. He says 491 is not practical or possible for me at all. I am totally confused
Would appreciate clarification from people familiar with the process.

you already have 15 pts in your eoi for 491, its auto added. check your eoi last page
So you mean to say, the state already nominates me by default while lodging EoI? Yes totally its shown me 85 points for 491. What he says is that the state has to nominate me else a family member has to nominate me, else there is no way of my application getting invited at all. I hope you understand what i mean. Every consultant would usualy say-491 is best suit for me due to my scores. However this is the one person who tells that its just a way to charge to get the profile into their hands and unless state nominates my EoI wont be invited.
@amru So you mean to say, the state already nominates me by default while lodging EoI? NO, the state nominates you when your nomination is approved after you are invited for nomination application. you need to do a bit of more research yourself.

@gregormendel -Hi thanks for the response. I did go through all of that content. any specific guidance about how 491 works for 234111 and if i can really keep some hopes on this in the next one year atleast. i find this in shortage list in all states.
@goofypenguin1260 goofypenguin1260- Thanks for clarifying this- i spoke to many consultants preliminarily and none explained this to me. Last someone said that unless state nominates I wouldnt get invite and most 491 applications would not get selected and he said right away that there are no chances and if i enroll , its just for getting fee i would be taken as client. All these months, i had been thinking 491 is the easiest pathway for the people with bit lesser scores. I had gone through DHA and state speicific websites too and the content given here for basic understanding in different pages- Could you pls help me understand what sort of research i need to do more? I discovered Smart visa guide accidentally and i never know of this community earlier. I am quite gald to have people to discuss with here. When i searched with my ANZScode 234111- i am getting results in the occupation page and also visa and nomination received pages. I am not paid member for any service here. I have got my skill assessemt and EoI done all by myself. Can i hope for some thing good selection in this 234111 in next one year? Any guidance would be highly appreciated
@goofypenguin1260 -Infact most consultants in India here told me that 189/190 need high scores and to forget it and gave me understanding 491 is best pathway. However this particular consultant yesterday took away all my hopes stating that 491 applications are sort of bluff and do not really get selected unless state nominates. While other consultants say, many states issue invitations for 491 pathway easily than for others and people with less scores would be having greater chances here provided their ANZScode and requirements are met. Till EoI and till now all is genuine and uptodate in my case.
