Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program update
13 March 2026: Update on Application Invitation Rounds As we approach the final quarter of the 2025–26 program year, we have continued to see strong interest in the State Visa Nomination program. The number of invitations to nominate we have now issued to candidates will use most of this year’s allocation.
This said, there are some remaining places and we will continue to process applications and receive ROIs however the number of new invitations to apply for nomination will be limited over the coming weeks while we focus on processing the applications currently on hand.
Once we have more information on the size of our allocations for the 2026–27 nomination program from the Australian Government we will provide further updates.
Subclass 190 We are temporarily pausing invitations for any ROIs that do not attract a Gold pass. ROIs can continue to be submitted and we will review the situation in the coming weeks.
ROIs with a Green pass will continue to be invited to apply for nomination within six months of submission however, if approved, we may not be able to nominate them this program year if all places are filled.
Subclass 491 Invitations will continue for all pass colours although the number issued will be reduced.

Invitation Activity
ACT continues to issue invitations for state nomination on 13 March 2026. No specific occupation or points data was provided in the comments.
Trends and Patterns in S56 Requests
S56 requests observed today primarily involve standard documentation requirements. For applications lodged in December 2024, requests include AFP checks for onshore applicants and comprehensive documentation (medicals, PCC, Form 80) for offshore applicants with secondary applicants. One older application from May 2024 received an S56 with unspecified content. The NSW 491 Software Engineer case demonstrates that S56 requests for remedicals can occur approximately 7-8 months after visa lodgement, with grants following 4 months after compliance.
The majority of grants reported today were direct grants without S56 requests, particularly for applications lodged in mid-December 2024. This includes various occupations across VIC, SA, and TAS states. Processing times for these direct grants were approximately 15 months from lodgement. The single 491 NSW grant with an S56 request took significantly longer at approximately 24 months from lodgement to grant.
