Hello everyone, need advice regarding my current circumstance.

I'm planning to lodge my EOI in 2027 and would appreciate some advice on choosing the right occupation and whether getting multiple skills assessments is worthwhile.

My profile:

  1. Age: 25–32 ;

  2. BSc in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Washington Accord accredited).

  3. Working since graduation (2023) university-based environmental research and engineering projects.

  4. Currently a full-time Research Associate, working on climate-resilient infrastructure, water treatment technologies, coastal adaptation, environmental assessments and research.

  5. My work is multidisciplinary, covering environmental engineering, scientific research and consultancy.

  6. Published more than 5 research papers in environmental and climate-related fields.

Current estimated points: 65–70 (depending on employment recognition). I am planning to retake English for Superior English and complete NAATI CCL, aiming for 80–90 base points.

My main questions are -

(i) Environmental Engineer (233915): My degree is titled Civil and Environmental Engineering. EA recommends the Washington Accord pathway, but will it give me an Environmental Engineer outcome, or would I need a CDR because it's a combined degree?

(ii) Environmental Research Scientist (234313) vs Environmental Consultant (234312): Both VETASSESS Group A occupations align with my qualifications and duties. Which would be the stronger choice for skills assessment and skilled employment recognition? Which is more competitive?

(iii) Multiple assessments: Since I genuinely perform both engineering and research duties, would obtaining two assessments improve my chances across 189/190/491? Which combination would you recommend?

(iv) Work experience: I started paid, full-time research employment immediately after graduating in June 2023. Would VETASSESS recognize this period, or deduct the first year when calculating skilled employment?

(v) Ultimately, which occupation would give me the best chance of receiving an invitation?

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who's gone through EA or VETASSESS with a similar background. Thanks!
