SmartVisaGuide groups them together because many historical grant profiles do not provide enough information to determine whether the primary applicant applied alone or included a partner or family members. This may slightly overestimate processing times when only the primary applicant is included and slightly underestimate them when other applicants are included. However, this difference is expected to be much smaller than the processing-time differences between priority and non-priority applications, and between onshore and offshore non-priority applications. Grouping them together also preserves the full offshore sample and produces more stable estimates. If enough reliable information about whether applicants applied alone or with a partner or family becomes available, SmartVisaGuide will provide a more detailed breakdown in the future.
