I'm seeking some advice or insights from anyone familiar with the current trends for the 189 Skilled Independent visa invitations.

I have submitted an EOI as a Secondary School Teacher (ANZSCO 241411) with 85 points, and my points were updated on 15 August 2025. I noticed that there was an invitation round in August, but unfortunately, I didn't receive an invite.

From what I understand, it's possible that my EOI wasn't considered due to the cutoff date being earlier than when my EOI was last updated. I'm now wondering what my chances are for the next invitation round, assuming one happens in the coming months.

If anyone has insights into the following, I’d greatly appreciate it:

What was the cutoff date for the last round?

Are EOIs with 85 points currently competitive for this occupation?

Any trends or estimates on how long the wait might be?

Subject: Chances of 189 Invite for Secondary School Teacher at 70 Points?

Hi everyone,

I know this question has probably been asked many times before (sorry for being basic!), but I’d really appreciate your thoughts.

What are the chances of receiving a 189 invitation as a Secondary School Teacher with 70 points?

I’ve booked both my CCL and PTE tests for the 6th and 7th of August. I’m quite nervous but working hard to clear both. I actually gave the PTE earlier this month and scored an 83 overall, but just missed the speaking requirement with a 78—just 1 point short!

I’m a bit worried about the new PTE speaking changes starting from 7th August, but since my English is pretty good, I’m staying positive and not letting it stress me out too much.

Would love to hear from others in a similar boat or anyone with insights into the current 189 trends for teachers.
