Received 190 VIC invite. Honestly with my points, I would've receive an invite earlier if not for my agent's f-up. They were adamant on only raising 2 EOIs (1 specifically for NSW and another 1 for ALL states), and that there were no issues with the EOIs as they've been receiving pre invites for other occupations. They said I needed to pay AUD100+ equivalent for every EOI to be made, and refused to amend the second EOI as they claimed to "know what they're doing, and best to leave it to the EXPERTS" . In the end I decided to count my losses (approx AUD8k AUD equivalent) and DIY. I had to reach out to VIC to relinquish my agents access to my passport no. In the Live in Melbourne page. Many of my contacts with lower EOI points than me (all their EOIs linked are to 1 state only and their points structure are the same apart from Single/without NAATI CCL) got invited in previous financial year. I believed it's due to the aforementioned EOI state preference issue, in my view - this will definitely impact highly competitive occupations such as Accountants.

Received Partner Skill Assessment Approval

Partner skill assessment approved by Vet Assess. 1 year working experience deducted, hence this not claimed in partner's EOI to prevent any potential issues arising. Vet Assess performed call verification on latest employment, which was positively verified. Noted wrong job title inputted by Assessor in the outcome letter. Requested agent to reach out to Vet Assess to rectify, but was informed by them to reissue the letter (despite their mistake) with correct job title will entail AUD50 fee. Did not want to pay for their incompetence, hence asked agent to furnish me email chain for proof if DHA enquires on this in the future.

I, myself, researched various FB groups and realised that despite the absence of employment reference letter, am able to still claim the working experience if I am able to substantiate with extensive documents. Applied to update Employment Assessment (AUD165), provided employment confirmation letter (simple letter with job title, salary, starting date), email from HR (indicating strict company policy not divulging job scope), payslips (4 a year), bank statements, superannuation and tax filling. Also provided affidavit and statutory declaration, signed and witnessed by commissioner for oaths and notary public.

Sat for CCL Malay exam on 10/10/2023 Took around 3 months to study, my command of the secondary language (malay) was weak and rusty. Paid c. AUD700 for CCL classes (2 weeks), though the coaching and class was not that useful, materials provided were essential in helping me to ace the exam. My scores were - Overall 84/90 Dialogue 1 - 40/45 Dialogue 2 - 44/45

Applied for Employment Assessment. My agent had suggested to me not to, but given my fear of getting queried during lodgement stage/avoid complications I decided to do so. I have 3 employments, initially all were unwilling to provide employment reference letter citing confidentiality and company SOP. Was quite emotionally depressed and all my previous Line Managers eventually ghosted me and not reply my messages. I kept pestering the company until managed to get the letters in relation 2/3 of my employment. The last and current employment - employer unable to budge. This is a large MNC so I have low bargaining power, and I can't risk the relationship going sour since it involves my livelihood (still working for them). Agent just recommended me to submit with what I have, thus my EOI did not claim those years of experience back then.

Applied for Qualification Assessment with CPA. I have a Bachelors Degree with an Australian University (offshore twinning programme), and it's accredited with CPA/IPA/CAANZ and moreover it's an aussie institution. Based on my research, since it's accredited I didn't need to get the course syllabus to furnish to assessing authority. However, my agent was adamant that it was required. Had to go back to my college to make a formal request, which entailed some complications as some of the syllabus has changed and they did have the version relevant to me. I had to also go to 2 colleges as I have some subjects as credit transfers (changed courses back then). I later found out that some of my friends who has the same qualification like me, did not furnish anything and got the qualification assessment approved anyway. So yeah, if your course is accredited and from an Australian uni, you don't have to get the course syllabus.

Received English Test Results

Overall 90 and 90 for all categories Studied 2 weeks by watching E2 PTE @ YouTube and subscribing to Ape Uni and doing few mock tests. You have to be cognisant that Ape Uni doesn't recognise southeast Asian accent hence I was scoring low on the mock tests. Also paid extra for official Pearson Mock tests. Results came out 4 hours after exam completion. Did not use any templates as based on my contacts, it can be a hit or miss. Since I'm fluent in English, did not need to use them.
