Many sources claiming a 189 revival. What does this mean for the future of 190 and 491?

Some sources at MIA conference said mid-point modelling of 189 revival saw 30k invites issued. This is double this year, which is approximately equial to this year's planning level.
An increase in around 15k invites is more than the sum of every state's 190 quota this year.
Is the 190 or 491 at risk of being extremely cut?

my concern is that if there is a genuine 10-15k increase in invites to 189, this essentially slashes 190 and 491 to near zero levels

my friend there were 189 round in this fy, aug 7000 invites and nov 10000 invites: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skillselect/invitation-rounds

so this year was 17k invites
the reports suggest up to 30k invites next FY
this means around a 10-13k increase in invites
so state allocations would surely suffer for 491 and 190?

With the new tier system, I have lost hope. I haven't even received a state invite yet. Even if they double the invitations next FY, all the tier1/2 occupations are going to take it.

jumpy, but your report says "Only 7,000 invitations were issued in 2025-26, compared with more than 44,000 in 2018-19." The report seems like an opinion piece to me.

@blackbaba thanks - the report says a meeting occurred in March between DHA and MIA, discussing that 189 will make a resurgence. Are you suspicious that these reports are illegitimate?

I read it but I dont have enough confidence in this unless they share an actual except of what was discussed. Its very general commentary imo
