Trends and Patterns in S56 Requests
S56 activity remains minimal for the day. One offshore 491 applicant who lodged in April 2025 received an S56 request, though the specific content was not disclosed. Among visa grants, only two applicants reported S56 requests: one NSW 491 Civil Engineer received a general S56 in December 2025 (requesting updated job payslip, AFP check, and rental agreement), and one NSW 491 Early Childhood Teacher received an S56 in late February 2026. The majority of grants were direct grants with no S56 requests.
Priority occupation processing continues to demonstrate faster timelines. The Early Childhood Teacher (priority occupation) received a grant in approximately 1 month from lodgement, while non-priority occupations showed processing times ranging from 3 to 11 months. Construction Project Managers (offshore NSW 190) experienced processing times of 10-11 months, while onshore applicants in Civil Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering saw processing times of 3-13 months.
All NSW 190 grants reported were direct grants with no S56 requests, suggesting streamlined processing for complete applications. Family sizes ranged from single applicants to families of 4, with no apparent correlation to processing times.
๐ Note: This data represents a subset of total visa activity. Only the Department of Home Affairs has complete grant statistics. Individual processing times vary based on case complexity, completeness of applications, and priority occupation status.

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if someone would be able to clarify a couple things for me regarding the requirements to lodge a ROI for the 491 visa in Victoria.
I will be starting my job as an Enrolled Nurse with an agency in regional Victoria (the agency has an office in a regional town). The live in Melbourne website says that there are no requirements for minimum work experience but 4 most recent payslips need to be provided.
I also read that if I am claiming income as a casual employee then the most recent 8 payslips need to be provided.
I wanted to know whether I would need to wait 4-8 weeks before loding my ROI or whether I can do it now. And how much time do we get to provide any required documents if the ROI is selected?
Lastly, would my emplyment with a nursing agency be an issue for the 491 eligibilty?
Thank you.
