It was supposed to be 25% of total VIC491 allocation. I am not sure but I may have seen 1 grad invite in last round. VIC has likely exhausted the FY allocation for invites.

Usually no, medicals expire after 12 months, but there is legislation on the exact conditions as to when medicals are re-requested. I cant recall right now, not on computer. Anyways, you should work with baseline assumption that if medicals expire you will be requested to redo them.

Hello, can someone help me? Civil Engineer here (90 points for SC 189). In the November 2024 round, the cut-off points were 85. I submitted my EOI on 27 Feb. Then 190 NSW Pre-invite on 25 Mar. Today I received 190 NSW approval. If I submit the 190 Visa application and pay the complete fees, and I get invite for 189 in the next round (let's say in June), can I submit 189 Visa application without losing the 190 fees?

You will need to pay visa fee twice.

the fee you paid for 190 has nothing to do with 189. If you get 189 invite, you will need to pay fee again for 189 visa application

Oh that's a shame. I guess I need to be brave and I trust myself that I can get the 189 invite. I really cant afford paying 4770 AUD twice. Thanks

What are the chances of getting a 189 or 190 visa invitation with Primary Applicant registered nurse with 75 points (80 with state points for 190 and 90 for 491)and secondary applicant Engineering Technologist with competent English ? Hi Gregor , I have submitted nomination application for WA The EOI which I got invited was created for SA and I updated that one year back to WA , but I was in SA because of my job and I came to WA in last December and I updated the same EOI to WA . After two months I got invited and I provided enough documents while submitting application. My question is updating multiple times EOI will it impact on my profile while assessing the application???

they are granted throughout the day, but I wont be surprised if the COs are a bit more "energetic" in the morning

@gregormendel that makes sense. Thank you! Are there certain things that case officers prioritise in addition to occupation/subclass? Or if it just random when they get assigned and how quickly they work through their cases? Mainly asking about 190 as I know 189 has been following FIFO as of late

Hi. Do you know why have they been dealing with cases of Dec. 23 and Jan. 24 recently, but not the thousands of backlogs from June 23?

I think they might have a way to determine "readiness for grant" so when needed, they can drop a few grants here and there. Obvious things like expired docs, family size, location etc.

many sort of things slowdown near elections, because it could be a govt change

the key bit is: they grant as per planning levels, so it doesnt matter is they slow down or speed up a bit

Thanks! It’s just so hard to make sense of everything when several applications get granted before who lodged after. Happy for everyone who got theirs but stressful trying to understand a pattern or if it’s just random.

Why are most visa granted from engineering and IT sector only?

@gregormendel mate I may have a silly question. What would happen if the planning level of 189 this FY is used up? Are they gonna hold the 189 granting for the next 3 months until the next FY?

Once the 189 planning level for this FY is reached, remaining applicants will have to wait until next FY and the new planning level to be processed. From my understanding, the department doesn't really like to use the entire planning level too early and will slow down visa grants as we approach the end of the current FY (i.e. they probably won't use all of the remaining allocation in April - which is feasible given the remaining number, but will spread the remaining allocation over April, May, and June). This means we will probably see a smaller number of 189 visa grants over the next few months until we reach the new FY.

When can I expect the grants for July 2023, WA 190 ? VICTORIA and other few states, Jan and Feb 2024 applications are processing but still applications from June & July 2023 are pending, not even S56 for applications.

Any way an offshore individual can get PY done while living outside australia. I lost my TR and was unable to go back to Australia for a PY. any way I can get a visa permit just to go to australia and get PY done?

Hey @greg, I have submitted EOIs for 491/190 for NSW and Victoria. But have very low points. Now I want to try student visa (500). Only the ROI has passport number linked which can be traced, not the EOIs. Even if I withdraw the ROI and EOIs now, can they still refuse my student visa stating "I am not a genuine student as I tried 491/190 previously?"

Waiting in hope for my visa application already being picked up by DHA. Submitted on 29th Jan 2024. Do the states have any say on the DHA processing? Like can Victoria or NSW ask DHA to prioritise certain occupations?

Never heard or read anything around it. Assume this doesnt happen. VIC and NSW usually account for 40% to 50% of allocation so natural to every second grant from VIC or NSW on average

I wont be surprised though, if there was a mechanism for states to be able to request DHA for certain occupations to be expedited, for example certain specific ones in regional areas etc. Just speculating, I dont know for sure.

Hi @gregormendel, I have phone bills, a WA license, a Bank Statement and car insurance. is that enough to prove WA residency? I see so many posts on Facebook which say WA Migration is asking for a lease agreement. What if I don't have lease and lease owner deny to provide me stat dec?
