What is a Competency Demonstration Report (CDR)?

Updated 1 year ago

A Competency Demonstration Report or CDR is a collection of documents required by Engineers Australia to gauge engineering competencies for Australian Immigration.

CDR is required in those cases where qualifications are non-accredited or from non-accord countries.

The CDR consists of three parts, namely:

  • Career Episode,
  • Summary Statement, and
  • CPD.

Let's understand them in brief:

Career Episodes (CE) discuss the engineering instances such as projects, theses, internship training, job experience, and workshops that have been acquired during the course of an engineering career. The total number of needed career episodes is three.

The career episode has 4 different parts:

  1. Introduction (100 Words)
  2. Background (200-500 Words)
  3. Personal Engineering Activity (500-1000 Words)
  4. Summary (50-100 Words)

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is the tabular statement that shows a timeline of the professional journey in the field of engineering made after qualifications.

Summary Statement (SS) is a tabular presentation of a summary of the competency of all 3 Career Episodes along with appropriate mapping of their skills from each career episode.
